Police Department
The Taft Police Department is a professional law enforcement organization that takes great pride in our department and the service we provide to the citizens of Taft. Our officers and civilian employees are all competent and dedicated men and women who strive to meet the service demands of our residents.  We also enjoy a good working relationship with the deputies and staff of the Kern County Sheriff's Department - Taft Substation.

The Taft Police Department provides protection to approximately 10 square miles and over 9,000 people. Our Department personnel consists of the Police Chief, 1 Lieutenant, 3 Sergeants, and 8 Patrol Officers. In addition, there are 5 Dispatchers, 2 Community Service Officers, 1 Animal Control Officer, 1 Code Enforcement Officer, 1 Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Police, 4 Reserve Officers and 2 Volunteers. These personnel provide full-time, 24-hour police coverage with a full-time dispatch center. The Taft Police Department operates a Type I Jail facility for pre-arraignment prisoners.

We are proud of our community and the officers who work so hard to help make the City of Taft an enjoyable and safe place to live.
